Summer Solstice Celebration

The public is invited to bring a blanket and enjoy live music by Heather Kropf's Trio and a cook-out catered by All the Best Catering.
Arts and crafts, games and environmental activities for all ages will be available and include:
Floral crown making with volunteer chair, Lauren Kinter.
Barbara Grossman, Fox Chapel resident and environmental artist, presents The Fabric of Our Lives, an Earth-Weave project using recycled materials that attendees will work on with the artist.
A large-scale community painting on canvas with a solstice theme by visual and community artist, Alison Zapata.
A cooking demonstration using local produce and highlighting the relationship of the solstice to farming life.
A twilight Nature Walk led by Nancy Gift, assistant professor an acting director of the Rachel Carson Institute at Chatham University.
Knock-Out competitions on the basketball court and watermelon spitting contests on the field will also be held.
The center is looking for additional volunteers to help with the event. Those interested should call Margaret Manges at 412-967-1746.
